A unique project backup and reconstitution of a castle in the Fifteenth century.
HELP US SAVE A CASTLE IN THOUSAND YEARS
Our adventure began with a simple task, but it is essential : to save a castle in danger. This project, with the original family, is based on the commitment of my father and myself. Since 2006, we consecrate our time, our energy and personal resources to the restoration of this building full of history. With the exception of the roof, entrusted to a specialized company, the whole of the work has been carried out by us.
For more than fifteen years, we have worked in the shadow, with a single ambition : to preserve this unique heritage.
A DISCOVERY THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Everything shifts the day, relieving fills a wall is cracked, we discover gunboats, and then an old window. Little by little, the hidden reality of the castle is revealed : the three levels of terrace visible, it is in fact a mask, concealing the major part of the castle, voluntarily buried at the beginning of the Twentieth century. The restoration project takes on a whole new dimension.
Aware of the magnitude of the challenge, we decide in 2020, after more than 30 years of closure, to open the castle to the public. Despite the health environment, we welcome visitors to discover not only this forgotten place, but also a construction site alive, where history is written every day.
SUPPORT VERY LIMIT
Despite the inclusion of the castle in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments, less than 8 % of the work received public support, only those left to the professionals. The efforts carried out by our own means, as considerable as they are, are not eligible for aid.
Today, the financial support of the DRAC represents less than 5 % of the total cost of the work performed. And yet, some of the major elements of the castle, as the dungeon, is rapidly deteriorating. Without early intervention, these witnesses of a thousand years of history could be lost forever.
